From the warmth of your closets to their hearts

Project Aanchal

an initiative dedicated to collecting and distributing old clothes to the people of the Bediya tribe in Rasabeda, Jharkhand. This non-profit project focuses on providing dignity, warmth, and comfort to those in need, particularly during the harsh winters.

About

The story of Project Aanchal began when I, Sameeksha visited Rasabeda, Jharkhand as part of the Young Changemakers Programme organized by IIM Ranchi. Not only did this visit open our eyes to the harsh realities faced by the villagers—particularly the Bediya tribe, who had to endure the biting winters with little protection against the cold, it also showed us the stark contrast between our privileged lives in Bangalore and the struggles of the people residing in remote villages like Rasabeda. Witnessing families struggling without adequate clothing and children shivering in threadbare outfits left a lasting impact on both of us.Back home in Bangalore, I knew I couldn’t solve every problem the villagers faced—but we could definitely start with one. Project Aanchal was born out of a commitment to help create a lasting impact on at least a handful of people if not the entirety of the underserved population in our country. What began as a simple idea has grown into a focused initiative to collect and distribute sarees, warm clothes, and winter essentials for the underserved families of the Bediya tribe. With the support of donors, volunteers, and well-wishers, this project hopes to not only provide clothing but also create a ripple of kindness, proving that even small actions can make a big difference.
